Preference is given to local materials, such as artisan Sicilian terra cotta and pitchstone, while various elements have been retrieved from the old house. The cement flooring has been treated with natural pigments and non-solvent resins. The mattresses don’t have springs and bed-bases are wooden in order to reduce magnetic fields. The choice of works of art, furnishings and colours were inspired by a balance of the five feng-shui elements - wood, fire, earth, metal and water - to instil a feeling of well-being and equilibrium in the house.
